Willie Lau, age 78 of Howell, NJ passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2019.

Viewing will be held at Rezem Funeral Home, 457 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick, NJ on Wednesday, October 23, 7pm-9pm. Funeral service will be held at Rezem Funeral Home on Thursday, Oct 24, 10am. Immediately following the service will be the burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, 840 Cranbury South River Road, Jamesburg, NJ.

Willie Lau was born on March 17, 1941 at Columbus Hospital in New York City and grew up at 114 Ellery Street in the Bedford-Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn.  He proudly graduated from Pace College (now Pace University) as a first generation to college with a Bachelor’s degree; he was able to celebrate being a “Golden Graduate Pace U Class of ‘66” who marched in the graduation ceremony at The Garden in 2016. He worked for Harold Lee & Sons, Uniroyal, McKinsey & Co, and National Bulk Carriers before starting his own practice.

In his early years of fatherhood you could find him fishing or bowling with his children – Gregory, Denise, and Corinne – or cheering them on from the sidelines at their soccer games. He was a member of the National Association of Tax Practitioners, having served on the board of the New Jersey Chapter for more than 10 years that included serving as president twice. As a tax professional, he passed the rigorous IRS exam to become an Enrolled Agent. For OCANJ he served as president and member of the board for 10 years.  He was a member of the National Board of OCA including Treasurer of the OCA Endowment Fund.

Willie Lau is survived by his wife – Mamie Lau; son, Gregory Lau of New York City; daughter Denise and her family – William, Alexis, and Olivia Quan of Framingham, MA; daughter Corinne and her family – James, Addison, and Austin Carr of East Brunswick, NJ; and his brother, Shew Ming, sisters Anna Ong Shu and Jean Lau Chin and their families from China, New York, New Jersey and Massachusetts.
