The 2024 OCA-NJ Chapter Scholarship Applications are now available!

OCA New Jersey Chapter is pleased to announce our Scholarship Program for 2024. We continue to offer 2 different scholarship programs. The first is our traditional Essay Scholarship Award featuring 6 named scholarships ranging from $3,000 to $500, and the second is a creative artistic endeavor dedicated to the Spirit of Corky Lee in the amount of $1,500. The application and letter of recommendation requirement is the same for both awards; however, the submission and judging criteria is different.

Please note that these scholarships are available to all college bound high school seniors of Asian American descent who are full time residents of the state of New Jersey. We encourage all eligible students to apply, especially those with greatest financial need. Parental consent, a letter of recommendation, and an official copy of high school transcripts is required. Deadline to apply is April 21, 2024.

New York City's 2nd Annual AAPI Cultural & Heritage Parade ~ May 21, 2023

What a great turn out for this 2nd annual event in celebration of May's AAPI Heritage month in NYC! From the OCA 4-Chapters contingents, we had as our main attraction, a brand new dragon decorated in a patriotic theme of Red, White & Blue. This beautiful brand new dragon is courtesy of our very own OCA-New Jersey Chapter president, Henry Lee, who is also the owner of Dragon Lion Gear Company.  A big THANK YOU to the 2023 volunteer dragon dance troupe & the volunteers/participants from OCA-New Jersey, OCA-New York & OCA-Westchester Hudson Valley (OCA-Long Island had to opt out this year due to a special circumstance, but will catch them next year)!  Thanks to the 4 OCA Chapters Parade Committee who worked very hard on the many planning meetings & coordinations to make this parade come to fruition. Photos of the May 21, 2023 parade in the YouTube slideshow below were provided by John K. Tan/Eric Chau (OCA-NJ) & William Kaung/Daniel Lewis (OCA-WHV).

OCA-NJ Mourns the Loss of Virginia Lou Ng

It is with deep sorrow and regret that we must announce the sad news that OCA-NJ Chapter Advisor, Virginia Lou Ng, passed peacefully this morning. Our grief is buoyed by the legacy she left behind. Virginia was a longtime leader and supporter of OCA-NJ and the entire OCA national organization. She touched many lives through her friendship, her leadership, and her advocacy. She has mentored and inspired so many, and we feel blessed to have been part of her journey. Rest in Peace Virginia, you will be missed.
